“Ladies, don’t ever let anyone tell you, you are past your prime.” Michelle Yeoh Maree Thompson is a fully fledged advocate of teaching and inspiring students and fellow colleagues for screen and media in technical application and mastery in Hair, Makeup and SFX Artistry. Maree completed her Diploma of Beauty and Media Specialist Services in 2020 gaining this qualification to add to her teaching portfolio as a Beauty Industry Trainer.

With over 18+ years of experience in this industry across NZ, Perth and Brisbane Maree decided to sidestep her passion for mentoring and teaching to challenge her creativity for the film, tv and print industry. “I knew it was time for a change. To get creative again and develop the canvases the producers, directors and writers were looking to bring together for the big & small screens.”

“No two days are the same on set. One day you are onto of a roof top car park at sun rise, the next in a historic building or a cathedral, even a farm are just some of the places you can be taken in this industry. “

Maree Thompson Looking to the future Maree plans to carry on learning new skills to bring her craft even more strength along with enhancing her future students’ creative minds, to push their limits further.

Recent highlights include, A music video shot here in Brisbane with local artis & crew that I was apart of, then finalised in Cypress with the remaining international artists for realised through Spotify. Seeing the films, I have been apart of, be seen at film festivals along with premier screenings in city cinemas for a public audience. Fun fact, While Maree thrives on creating SFX wounds for realism and horror, watching them back on the screen is another matter.
